He’s happy and he’s French.

If that seems like a contradiction…it’s because it is.  And “contradictions” are just what biochemist-turned-Buddhist-monk Matthieu Ricard proposes for happiness.  In this 20-minute TED talk, Ricard defines happiness as a state of well-being.   For every negative emotion (or emotion that causes suffering, the polar opposite of well-being) there is a positive antidote emotion that can be engaged and acted upon.

How does one do this? By brain training and building brain plasticity.

We eat and sleep well to take care of our bodies, moisturize to take care of our skin, exercise to take care of our muscles & bones.  Indeed what daily actions are you taking to ensure a happy and high-functioning healthy brain?
